The Types of Burnout Every Realtor Feels
If you have felt off lately and could not quite explain why, this episode is for you. We are digging into the types of burnout in real estate because burnout does not look the same for everyone, and it definitely does not care how long you have had your license. Y’all, this one started as a personal conversation between us and turned into an episode we knew we needed to share.
Burnout Looks Different at Every Career Stage
We started by dividing burnout up by where you are in your career, because a brand new agent and a fifteen year veteran are not tired for the same reasons. Seasoned agents are watching onboarding get harder. Client conversion that used to sit around 80% is now closer to 30 or 40%, which means it takes twice the leads to land the same result. New agents are dealing with a different kind of exhaustion: constant rejection, comparison, and the overwhelm of trying to absorb every piece of advice at once. Part timers are stuck asking themselves an honest question: do the goals I want actually match the effort I am able to give right now?
The Types of Burnout in Real Estate That Hit Everyone
Then we got into the types of burnout in real estate that do not care about your tenure at all. Market related burnout is the one everybody is feeling right now, rising rates, affordability struggles, and clients who are stuck no matter which side of the transaction they are on. We shared a real story about a buyer whose max budget dropped from $230,000 to $211,000 in a matter of months once rates hit 7%. We also covered feast or famine burnout (the cycle of busy to crickets to panic), people pleasing burnout, high achiever burnout, comparison driven burnout, systems failure burnout, and financial stress burnout, which we think is the most dangerous of them all because it can force your hand right out of the business.
How to Rest Without Quitting
The good news is naming your burnout is the first step to taming it. We talked through simple, low cost ways to rest: a nap, a drive, a hobby, or just giving yourself permission to take a day off. Real estate can absolutely take over your life if you let it, so build something outside of it. You do not have to quit this career. You just have to learn to rest.
