Spruce Up Your Business

The new year is here, and there’s no better time to spruce up your business. Whether you’re fresh off a busy Q4 or slowly easing into January, this episode will help you refresh your systems, routines, and mindset to start the year strong. Real estate is a business with many moving parts, and staying organized is key to feeling calm and confident.

We share practical strategies that make a big impact, from tidying your database to revamping your routines. Let’s get your business (and life) cleaned up and prepped for success in 2023!

Clean and Tidy to Start Fresh

A clean space leads to a clear mind. Whether it’s your inbox, database, Trello board, or photo library, clearing out the clutter gives you a fresh start. We share how Alyssa tackles her notes app and photo roll, and how Katy organizes her folders and digital tools to stay on top of her game. Don’t forget to clean out your car and your voicemail, too!

Revamp Your Digital Assets

Now is the perfect time to update your headshot, refresh your logo, and make sure your branding is consistent across every platform. Create a list of everywhere your photo and bio appear so future updates are easier. Don’t forget to update your email signature, website, and even your Google Business profile—and yes, clients can upload photos to their Google reviews!

Spruce Up Your Business Tools

Your business tools need love too! Check your CRM, email templates, intake forms, and vendor list. If your systems aren’t working for you, now’s the time to fix them. Make updates that reflect how you actually work, not how you think you “should” work. And if you’ve got closing gifts, business cards, or folders to stock, this is your moment to restock and refresh.

Audit Your Marketing and Social Media

Take stock of your marketing strategy. Are you still spending on tools or subscriptions that bring zero ROI? Time to cancel them. Update your listing marketing plan, create or tidy up your newsletter template, and set a schedule for consistent social media posting. Most importantly, make sure you’re collecting email addresses so you can connect outside of social media.

Routines, Calendars, and Time Management

Your time is your most valuable asset. Set recurring tasks in your calendar, like an office day, meal prep, or follow-up time. Batch work like birthday or home anniversary cards to save mental energy. Consider changing how you approach chores, client follow-ups, or school pickups. Even small tweaks—like shifting your kid’s morning wake-up routine—can make a big difference.

Business Tracking and Financial Cleanup

Get a clear picture of your business by cleaning up your budget, expenses, and tracking tools. Update your business plan and consider setting up an LLC or S Corp if your income supports it. Keep a “numbers note” to track important metrics like email list size, database count, or Instagram followers. Seeing your growth in black and white builds momentum.

Mindset Check and Simplification

Revamping your mindset is just as important as refreshing your systems. Don’t overcomplicate things. Start with small steps and simplify wherever possible. Do what you enjoy in your business. If you love social media, double down on that. If you hate mailing birthday cards, stop doing it. Focus on consistency and sustainability—not perfection.

Build a Plan That Works for You

Whether you’re revamping your home anniversary system, adjusting your follow-up plan, or updating your scripts, create systems that match your natural workflow. You don’t have to do it all. Just do a few things well. Simplify, standardize, and focus on tasks that energize you. That’s how you spruce up your business and make it thrive long term.

Final Thought

As James Clear says, “It doesn’t take much to feel good again.” A five-minute spruce-up can lead to a better day, and small changes add up to major shifts over time. Don’t get overwhelmed by a long to-do list. Just start. Your future self will thank you.
